Почти два столетия почтовая марка является неотъемлемой частью письменного отправления. Что такое марка? Для простого обывателя – это всего лишь небольшой кусочек бумаги, на который нанесен рисунок. Далеко не каждый знает историю возникновения марки и того, для чего она предназначена.
В эпоху высоких технологий и развитых коммуникаций история почтовой марки утратила свою значимость. Люди перестали увлекаться коллекционированием, чтением книг, а молодежь и вовсе окомпьютеризировалась.
Сегодня истинную ценность знака почтовой оплаты понимает только настоящий филателист, которых на Камчатке осталось немного.
А ведь в XIX веке коллекционирование марок было настолько популярным занятием, что захватывало все слои населения – от знати до самых бедных. Выпуск каждой марки или серии марок был приурочен к тому или иному событию в жизни страны, к юбилейной дате. Каждая марка – в то же время миниатюрный художественно выполненный плакат, отмечающий победы и достижения народа, различные исторические события, запечатляющий образы выдающихся политических деятелей, ученых, писателей, художников, архитекторов. Марки показывают жизнь страны с ее великими стройками, историческими памятниками и достопримечательностями. В начале XX столетия коллекционирование марок рассматривалось как серьезный спорт. Параллельно развивалась филателистическая литература. В целом филателия процветала. XXI век – век технического прогресса. Уходит в прошлое письменность от руки. Лист бумаги заменил монитор компьютера, а перо и чернила – клавиатура. И коллекционирование знаков почтовой оплаты перестало быть модным хобби.
Идея возродить филателию на Камчатке родилась у директора УФПС Камчатского края – филиала ФГУП «Почта России» Владимира Чечикова. Вернувшись из Санкт-Петербурга, где удалось принять участие в «Почтовой тройке», а также посетить почтовый музей и различные филателистические выставки, главный почтмейстер Камчатки твердо решил возобновить интерес горожан к этому благородному занятию. Камчатские почтовики и участники бывшего общества филателистов с радостью поддержали эту идею.

На выставке будут представлены не только тематические коллекции марок, посвященные флоре и фауне, транспорту, государствам и их правителям, но впервые жители Петропавловска-Камчатского смогут воочию увидеть подлинную первую марку мира «Черный пенни» и первую марку российской империи. Именно эти марки повлияли на весь почтовый мир страны. Для всех филателистов мира иметь такую марку в своей коллекции – мечта! Знатоки оценивают каждый единичный экземпляр поистине на вес золота.
На радость филателистам в рамках проведения выставки пройдет спецгашение конвертов, выпущенных специально к данному мероприятию.
